TAKE-OFF Speeds V1, Vr, V2! Explained by "CAPTAIN" Joe

I´m sure many of you have heard about these speeds. I will explainin more detail what is so important about V1. By the book V1 is defined as „The speed beyond which the takeoff should no longer be aborted“. Meaning that in case you experience any trouble with your plane before reaching V1, the classic example would be an engine failure, you would immediately abort your take-off and would apply all necessary matters to bring the aircraft to a stop. Vr or better know as Rotate is defined as, “The speed at which the pilot begins to apply control inputs to cause the aircraft nose to pitch up, after which it will leave the ground“. Easiest way to memorize Vr is, the point where the nose wheel leaves the ground vortexes are created at the wing tips which „rotate“ behind the aircraft. V2 is defined as the Takeoff safety speed. The speed at which the aircraft may safely be climbed with one engine inoperative. I will go through speeds and hope my explanation solves a few question about these mysterious speeds. Making Sense of Airline Fuel Surcharges

Making Sense of Airline Fuel Surcharges

https://www.onemileatatime.com Today we are going to be talking about airline fuel surcharges. Airlines have been imposing these fuel surcharges for many years. They first came around when fuel prices went way up. Fair enough at the time I thought ok they are adding a surcharge, the cost of fuel has actually gone up so that makes sense. The catch was when fuel prices went back down they did not remove the surcharge. Before we talk about what fuel surcharges really are, I will let you know that today they are usually referred to as carrier imposed surcharges rather than fuel surcharges. The reason is there have been a bunch of lawsuits over the years about airlines referring to these incorrectly as fuel surcharges given the lack of correlation the surcharge and the cost of fuel. So when you look on a ticket you will notice that there is a carrier imposed surcharge and this would represent the fuel surcharge. The good news is if you are booking a revenue or cash ticket the fuel surcharge shouldn't impact you. This is to say that the cost of the ticket is going to be the cost of the ticket and that is based on supply and demand. If you look at the actual breakdown of your ticket cost. If you are flying from New York to London for example you may notice that your ticket is $600 and that it is really made up of a $50 base fare, a $500 carrier imposed surcharge plus $50 in taxes or so. The point is that often the majority of your ticket price will be this carrier imposed surcharge. But it truly doesn't make a difference if it's a cash ticket because airline prices based on competitive factors or what they can get away with. At the end of the day, the surcharges go into their pockets just like the base fares. The point at which fuel surcharges matter is when it comes to awards tickets. Some airlines and frequent flyer programs impose these surcharges on award tickets. For example if you fly from Boston to London using British Airways Avios in first class, in addition to paying avios you are going to be paying an $1800 in taxes, fees and surcharges which is pretty insane. There are two factors at play. The first question is does the airline directly charge these surcharges? or does the frequent flyer program that you are booking through pass on these surcharges? For example Air Canada Aeroplan has a fantastic frequent flyer program. When you redeem for travel on certain partners they impose a surcharge but they don't on others. For example if you are redeeming aeroplane miles for travel on Air Canada or Lufthansa you will pay these huge surcharges and in some cases transatlantic and business class could cost you $500 or $600 one way. Meanwhile if you redeem on other partners like United they will not post these surcharges. When you go to redeem miles always check which partners they impose surcharges on and which they don't, because this can be the difference between paying just a few dollars in taxes on a ticket and paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars in fees when redeeming miles. These airline surcharges are really sneaky but the good thing is for most people they're not that important since on revenue tickets it doesn't make a difference. But when redeeming miles be careful and do your research because choosing the right airline and the right program can mean the difference between just paying a few dollars and paying a lot of money. The analysis of causes of accidents shows that 75% of them happen because of human factor, other - because of omission of aeromechanics. In patents #88319(19) UA and #144783 RU owned by Tatarenko Vladimir Nikolaevich such aircraft construction is offered, which provides separation of the lower part of the fuselage with situated there passengers and their luggage, gradual decline of separated part and its soft landing (splashdown), afterwards providing an opportunity for its searching and finding by rescuers. The guaranty of success of offered airplane structure is in the fact that outlined in patents structure solutions are based on life-long checked technical solutions of landing in military transport aviation. The existing technology of using of Kevlar and carbon composites for fuselage, wings, flaps, spoilers, ailerons, tail will be used during the design. It allows to partly compensate the weight of parachute system. Preliminary calculations show that the weight of the aircraft will increase slightly.
