The Doors - The End (1967) HQ

Here is Part Two of my Doors double feature, once again from the best album The Doors ever produced. My last music video was the first track from the LP, "Break On Through (To The Other Side)." This is the final track: the legendary and oddly prophetic song, "The End." Nothing more needs to be said.

"The End" is a song by The Doors, written by Jim Morrison. He originally wrote the song about breaking up with his girlfriend Mary Werbelow, but it evolved through months of performances at Los Angeles' Whisky a Go Go into a nearly 12-minute track on their self-titled album. The band would perform the song to close their last set. It was first released in January 1967. The song was recorded live in the studio with no overdubbing. Two takes were done and the second take is the one that was issued.

C'mon baby, take a chance with us C'mon baby, take a chance with us C'mon baby, take a chance with us And meet me at the back of the blue bus Doin' a blue rock, on a blue bus Doin' a blue rock, c'mon, yeah Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill This is the end, beautiful friend This is the end, my only friend, the end It hurts to set you free But you'll never follow me The end of laughter and soft lies The end of nights we tried to die This is the end
