My first interview with Lisa Renee January 2011.
Trevor Harrison aka "Gripper" a family man and an exceptional horseman. Being in the thoroughbred industry for 42 years his career started being a top jumps jockey which saw him travel the world and become the first jockey to represent New Zealand in America in 1980 riding "fancy edition" (the grey horse seen in the video) He was fearless yet passionate when it come to a young racehorse which built him a well respected reputation in both his business, breaking in horses on his small farm and around the start on race day where he worked as a barrier attendant. Until the night of January 10th 2002 when his car hit a tree. When he woke in hospital he was informed he had a "C3 C4 Spinal injury". Four out of Five doctors told him he had less than 10% chance of walking again "in aid of crutches". News like this felt crushing, in the blink of an eye his life had changed. These injuries would have a huge impact on not only his life but his entire career. Lying on his back, longing for the life he had only ever known all he could think was "what will I do now?". This video illustrates Grippers life before his accident, his determination, his rehabilitation and how he got his life back on track and importantly "back on the track"
