Joan Miro: A collection of 193 works (HD)

Joan Miro: A collection of 193 works (HD) Description: "Joan Miró was born in Barcelona in 1893, but the emotional landscapes that shaped him as a person and an artist were principally those of Mont-roig, Paris, and Majorca, and later those of New York and Japan. The small town of Mont-roig in the Baix Camp region of Catalonia was a counterpoint to the intellectual ferment of his life with the surrealist poets in 1920s Paris, and to the stimulus of discovering Abstract Expressionism in New York in the forties. Some time later, in the midst of World War II, Joan Miró returned from exile in France and settled in Palma de Mallorca, which became his refuge and workplace and where his friend Josep Lluís Sert designed the studio of his dreams. Miró’s attachment to the landscape of Mont-roig first and then Majorca was crucial in his work. His connection to the land and his interest in everyday objects and in the natural environment formed the backdrop to some of his technical and formal research. Miró avoided academicism in his constant quest for a pure, global art that could not be classified under any specific movement. Self-contained in his manners and public expressions, it is through art that Joan Miró showed his rebelliousness and a strong sensitivity to the political and social events around him. These conflicting forces led him to create a unique and extremely personal language that makes him one of the most influential artists of the 20th century." --- MUSIC: Kevin MacLeod - Danse Morialta Danse Morialta by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1200026 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!

SHOTLIST New York - 10 January 2005 1. Wide shot exterior Sotheby's 2. Wide pan of paintings in exhibit 3. Close up Paul Gauguin's "Deux femmes" 4. SOUNDBITE: (English) Simon Shaw, Sotheby's Senior Director of Impressionist and Modern Art: "Works from this period are extremely rare. This one has a wonderful provenance in that it comes to us from a private American collection where it's been since 1951, so that very great freshness on the marketplace, that although it's been exhibited, it's never been sold for more than half a century, is a particularly desirable aspect." 5. Mid shot of "Deux femmes" 6. Wide shot woman walking towards painting 7. SOUNDBITE: (English) Simon Shaw, Sotheby's Senior Director of Impressionist and Modern Art: "We're lucky enough to have both one of the most important Miro oils to be offered on the market in the past couple of decades, picture from 1953, called "L'Oiseau," which brings together Miro's most iconic visual language, the universe he created with these signs and symbols in the 1940's." 7. Close up Pablo Picasso's "Homme a la pipe" STORYLINE: Some of the world's rarest and most expensive art is on display at Sotheby's auction house in New York. The exhibit is a preview for a London auction on February 7, a sale that Sotheby's expects will be their highest value winter sale ever staged. Among the modern and impressionist artists who's works will be up for sale are Paul Gaugin and Joan Miro. Gauguin's 1902 painting "Deux Femmes," is considered to be an especially important piece because this is the first time it has been offered for sale in more than 50 years. Its estimated worth is between 18 million (14.9 million Euro) and 25 million US dollars (20.6 million Euro). Another top lot for sale, Miro's piece, "L'Oiseau," is considered to be one of his most accomplished paintings and its estimated value is between eight million (6.6 million Euro) and 12 million US dollars (9.9 million Euro). Pablo Picasso's "Homme a la pipe," is also to be offered at auction in February. It belongs to a major series of works that Picasso painted in his later years on the theme of the musketeer. This Picasso piece is valued from 4 million (3.3 million Euro) to 6.5 million US dollars (5.4 million Euro). The New York preview ends on January 13.
