The former McClellan Air Force Base outside Sacramento, Calif., is the setting for a federal versus state environmental showdown. The base has been closed for years, but the U.S. Air Force is building an arena-sized radioactive waste dump on the property that it wants to transfer to the city of Sacramento. The California Department of Public Health has made it clear that state laws don't permit this move, but the Air Force is forging ahead. Construction of the landfill is underway. No matter who wins this struggle, it will set a precedent for the disposal of radioactive waste at old military bases. The abandoned Valcour Hall dorm room building at the old Plattsburgh Air Force Base in Plattsburgh, New York. Taken on May 22nd, 2916. Was a really creepy building. I heard noises, a man's voice, a door creak open and I didn't even touch it, and orbs like no tomorrow.
