In 2004, an old friend of mine and me strolled about the abandoned weapons storage area on Mather AFB where we were stationed in the 1980s. My wife and kids got to come along. Once, this was a well-guarded Air Force installation.
Castle AFB hosted an airshow on October 24, 1993. A Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker refueled a Boeing B-52G Stratofortress. A flight demonstrations was performed by a Fairchild-Republic A-10A Thunderbolt II.
