Explore KU and the design-build of a smart home

School of Architecture and Design associate professor Joe Colistra is designed a smart home utilizing a gigabit network based in Kansas City and is funded through multiple grants. The goal of the smart home is to monitor the resident’s health and vital signs by using smart mirrors, toilets, floors with gait analysis, sleep sensors, and adjusted color lighting. With predictive algorithms, this could help detect precursors for Alzheimer’s disease, signs of a stroke, and other conditions. Fifth-year KU Architecture students helped execute the project in the East Hills Design-Build Center.

New Years Resolutions vs Smart Goals! {Vlogidays Day 41}

I used to always set New Years Resolutions as a kid but I always gave up after just a couple weeks. Come to find out, only 8% of people actually follow through on their New Years Resolutions. I now create SMART GOALS! Smart goals is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound. Setting SMART goals is so important, whether you are setting goals for your financial journey, losing weight, reading more, relaxing more or spending more time with your family! In this video, I will go over how I create and stick to my goals. Remember, goals that are not written down are just wishes!
