The Black Rock Desert in July is a hot, inhospitable place. But once the sun drops low against the Granite range to the west, the playa really comes to life. Music: Indian Wells - Cascades

An epic adventure was a gross understatement of our journey to our 1st Juplaya. With our kids in tow, we headed out to Black Rock Desert. Thru rain, lightning storms & flash floods, we arrived Weds nite @ 12 mile entrance. We got about 30FT in & realized it wasn't wise to drive onto the soupy playa. We headed for higher ground and found ourselves setting up camp at an old rock quarry about 1/2 mile up the road. Tho we didn't get to camp on the playa, the playa did in fact visit us. We were visited by many awesome people! Some even set up camp near us. It wasn't a complete shocker that my 8 yr old daughter Emily took to the playa like a true burner baby. Our 1st day there, she received the playa name Ladybug. One of the highlights of the trip was when we did make it onto the playa & visited a friends camp, she introduced herself as Ladybug! It truly was playa magic that made our journey absolutely MAGICAL!!! Love, Blossom
