When you say her name, most people remember her as Whitley Gilbert, the dainty, pretty southern belle on “A Different World,” but actress Jasmine Guy is much, much more than that. A professional dancer and choreographer, Guy is a triple threat that got her start performing in New York at Alvin Ailey. She went on to appear in films like Spike Lee’s “School Daze,” the TV series “Fame,” and even released her own self-titled R&B album in 1990. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- For copyright matters relating to our channel please contact us directly at: Videomega74@gmail.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhxX5XMGQtlANg0fpLO66g Subscribe For More:
We all loved watching actress, Jasmine Guy, bring her “Diff’rent World” character “Whitley,” to life every week. Whitley was prissy as hell and made you wanna shout at the TV sometimes, but she was entertaining to say the least. What we didn’t know, was that while we were crackin’ up off of “Whitley,” Jasmine was actually madly in love with her then-boyfriend/cast mate for many years. Wait until y’all see who though… Click to SUBSCRIBE for more videos! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeOwkRQclNIxh9FWUpGk2rg

She’s now starring on the SyFy channel show Superstition, but Jasmine Guy first made it big playing Southern belle Whitley on A Different World. Guy stopped by Dish Nation and of course we couldn’t help but ask her a slew of questions about the ’80s sitcom. She revealed where she thinks Whitley and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) would be today, whch cast members she still keeps it touch with and if there’s a chance of a reboot for the Hillman gang. The actress also made a foray into music in the ’90s and Brat was a huge fan. The two then broke out into a choreographed number to Guy’s R&B hit “Try Me.” It’s a must see. Meanwhile you can catch Jasmine and co-star Mario Van Peebles in Superstition on Fridays at 10pm on SyFy.
Wendy Wilson with W2 Communications had an opportunity to interview actress Jasmine Guy (A Diffterent World and Harlem Knights) when she was in Albany, Ga. Jasmine talks about her book and relationship with the late Tupac Shakur.

A 31-year-old woman will spend the rest of her life in prison without the possibility of parole in the murder of her boyfriend in their Jackson apartment. MyFoxDetroit.com reports that Jackson County Circuit Judge John McBain told Camia Gamet at Wednesday's sentencing that the slaying was among the worst "cold-blooded murders" he has seen. Marcel Hill was beaten and stabbed to death May 18 with a filet knife. When one of Hill's aunts spoke to the court, Gamet was seen by the judge rolling her eyes and snickering. "You gutted him like a fish in that apartment," McBain said at Gamet's sentencing. "You were relentless. You stabbed, you stabbed, you stabbed, you stabbed, you stabbed until he was dead. I agree with the family, I hope you die in prison as well. You know, if this was a death penalty state, you'd be getting the chair." A jury convicted Gamet last month of first-degree murder. Gamet has said she believed she was fighting an intruder in a darkened room and that the slaying was in self-defense. The 38-year-old Hill was stabbed 11 times. Hill told police in March 2013 that Gamet had struck him in the head with a hammer.
