Learn more: http://pulitzercenter.org/projects/japan-disposable-workers-labor-unemployment-crisis-economy "I just feel irritated, exhausted and disgusted," Naoya Nishigaki wrote before committing suicide in 2006. "I know the cause of my depression is definitely work." Naoya wasn't alone. He was part of a growing trend in Japan—a trend especially prevalent among younger workers who are scrambling for vanishing job security. A stagnant economy has forced many Japanese companies to do away with their signature lifetime employment, lay off full-time workers and replace them with lower-paid temporary contractors. Statistics from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare paint a striking picture: the leading cause of death among the Japanese population age 20-34 years is suicide. One in three suicides were believed to be work-related. Meanwhile, this same age group files more than half of the compensation cases for work-related mental illness. Some are able to sue their companies for compensation, but others find death to be their sole solution. Prejudice and discrimination associated with suicide discourage the victims' families from reporting, which means the actual number of such suicides could be much higher. This report is part of the Pulitzer Center sponsored project "Japan's Disposable Workers: Lost in the Global Unemployment Crisis" (http://bit.ly/NeMX5L).

Music playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQI-mUHGFmy8OVnwHp4-KZpbdP2QokMwQ You are Not Mine to hold Song lyrics I see you every other day, or maybe less but I still get by I can't believe that such a feeling so intense , we still have to hide Cos there's another lover in your life, the one that they recognize The woman I can never be. You're not mine to hold Every time I touch you, I get More and more alone Knowing I can never have you. Every single dream That I have is us forever I just can't believe We can never be together (Cos) my love, is your love But you're love's not my love And you'll never leave her. And every time I call you on the telephone, I try to deny That what it is you mean to me deep on my heart, it just isn't right Cos when we make love on a stolen afternoon, you leave far too soon Right back to her instead of me Chorus You'll never leave her You still decieve her My dreams will never Before reality You're not mine to hold Every time I touch you, I get More and more alone Knowing I can never have you Every single dreams Produced, composed and arranged by Shiro SAGISU for Ro-JAM Ltd Mastered by Herb POWERS Jr. at POWER HOUSE OF SOUND New York U.S.A. and Tim YOUNG at METROPOLIS MASTERING London U.K. Co-oridinated by Kiyoshi "KC" MATSUO (Never Too Much Productions), Yukio MUKAINO(Ro-JAM), Yukio TANIMOTO(Ro-JAM), Osami SAUGIYAMA (Pioneer LDC), Masakazu SAKUMA (Fivenine Factory), Haruo YODA (UNIVERSOUL), Tamotsu SUZUKI(UNIVERSOUL), Philip BAGENAL (EASTCOTE studios), LOREN, Andrew Smith, Nicholas St-Victor BROWN, and Martin LASCELLES Artwork by Kazuhiro TAKIYA Special thanks to Nobuyuki Hayashi (NIPPON MENARD COSMETIC CO.LTD), Shinya Takiguchi (NIPPON MENARD COSMETIC CO.LTD), Hideaki Tsuruta (HAKUDHODO) Inc.), Shohei Katsuno (HAKUDHODO) Inc.), Nobumtoto Okawuchi (SUTTON PLACE Inc.), Noaki Fukada and Shoji Kato (KATO SHOJI Inc.)
