Sidney Charles Tech House Set Live From #DJMagHQ

Sidney Charles Tech House Set Live From #DJMagHQ

Subscribe to DJ Mag TV: http://bit.ly/Oduqwo It might have come as a surprise to some that Hamburg’s Sidney Charles topped Resident Advisor’s Top 100 Most Charted Artists of 2013, but it’s an accolade that speaks volumes about both his approach to music and his prolific, consistent output. Born Sidney Charles Hurricane Vieljans (yes, really), his journey towards the world of house and techno began when he first started DJing hip-hop, soul and funk at the age of 15. Taking his cues from the golden age of turntablism and associated culture in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, his attentions were led towards other sounds of the era also enjoying their first heyday. His infatuation with those classic 4/4 club sounds is something that lives and breathes vividly in his music today. It might have come as a surprise to some that Hamburg’s Sidney Charles topped Resident Advisor’s Top 100 Most Charted Artists of 2013, but it’s an accolade that speaks volumes about both his approach to music and his prolific, consistent output. “I see myself mainly connected with the raw house sound” he says of the style he projects with his productions and DJ sets today. “I am highly influenced by the early ‘90s. Jacking beats; heavy kicks; dirty highs. But I also like to experiment a lot to not make people bored of a certain sound.” Whatever shade of house or techno he’s producing, it’s always packed full of hard grooves, raw sounds and a classy simplicity that lets the track do what it’s supposed to do: make your ass wiggle. For a producer who only started releasing music in 2011, Sidney’s achievements are all the more impressive. In the space of just three years, his works have graced bastions of house and techno such as Avotre, 8bit, I Am A House Gangster, Moda Black, Off, VIVa, Kling Klong, SCI+TEC, Suara and Area Remote - each release adding to his clout and helping him to become one of the biggest names in the underground. And that’s where he wants to stay. He has no lofty aspirations to play arena shows or break through into the mainstream of electronic music. He’d rather stay true to the scene and surroundings he loves and develop and grow therein. “I think the most important thing for me is that people take my music as a personal part of me” he says. “That means I can create an image mostly characterised by authenticity. So I don’t need to play for the biggest fees in the biggest clubs. I am mainly interested in the underground scene itself and being an active and creative part of it. With my music and my activeness in the scene as a DJ or otherwise. I want to give my part to keep the underground alive. As my music is meant to be honest, I also see myself more playing in clubs which are not fancy or posh-like. I see myself in more underground-orientated locations like Sankeys, fabric, Watergate, Panoramabar…” Along with his lengthy studio stints and packed DJing schedule, his role as A&R for Santé’s burgeoning Avotre imprint and the occasional parties he throws in his hometown ensure that he’s constantly immersed in his passion. While his focus is on making dancefloors vibrate, he’s also working on an album and a project with like-minded star Darius Syrossian and is keeping plans for his own record label in the back of his mind. With the diversity he’s displayed and the continually acclaimed output he’s been creating, there’s little doubt that Sidney Charles can continue to grow and evolve in the years to come - even within those refreshingly focused parameters which he has set for himself. 'What is beauty?' - Best Set Design

'What is beauty?' - Best Set Design

A giant robot. A giant robot that kills people. That's what beauty is. Now let us sit down and meditate! -EDIT1- Wow it's nominated for Best Set Design and Best Editing! That's bloody awesome! Thanks Valve and TF2 Players! -EDIT2- Just to make it clear - I'm the same guy who made the original achievement_golden_wrench with the robot in, so I didn't steal any content when I put this together. The whole map was built by me. -EDIT3- I won! Thanks everybody who voted for me and to the people who didn't - less thanks than the other people but still thanks for voting! Also I'm mentioning Calum in the speech - he's ginger by the way. Okay it's disclaimer time! (And I'm WilliamBoo btw - I probably should mention that). ---------------------- While I did make the map and the robot I did use materials and props from The Swamp Pack and The Construction Pack - a collection of materials and models from the really awesome tf2maps.net. The following people contributed to the pack: Void, Boylee, Ravidge, Mick-anator, Seba, UGLYdumpling, Lord Ned, HellJumper, Gerbil, Equinoxo and A Boojump Snark. While I didn't ask all of their permission Serba said it was cool aslong as I gave him 10% of the profits. But since he can never really know how much money I put into this I guess I'm in the clear. I'm just assuming that nobody reads this, but if you are - thanks for sticking with me until the end. Void also textured the computer screen bank. ---------------------- I made the map and the robot - I also edited together the particle effects for the smoke and fire. I recorded this and edited it together, but I did force my friends to play through an incredibly buggy map in short notice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHs49mDMdaM), but they left me when I needed a second take, so I'm not going to mention Nicho or Skidd. Calum really helped me the most by motivating me with his ability to overcome adversity (the adversity being that he's ginger). Volla helped too. ---------------------- I really want to thank the Playstuff community too, they're the ones who got me interested in TF2 to start with and I probably wouldn't be mapping today if it wasn't for them. The whole community is absolutely fantastic and if you're looking for a EU server to play on with a really friendly group of players I'd really suggest checking them out. ---------------------- Valve made everything else. Even stuff that wasn't in this video - have you seen Portal 2? They did most of that! ---------------------- Volla doesn't smell - I made this account ages ago to upload my map (that I pretended to be recorded by somebody else to try and get a cool viral thing going!) ---------------------- You can download the map http://www.voterocket.net/tf2server/maps/achievement_golden_wrench_v4.bsp though I warn you there's no materials or anything packed in (plus it wasn't really meant to run as a proper map so I wouldn't bother). You can get a workable version here: http://www.voterocket.net/tf2server/maps/achievement_golden_wrench_v2.bsp ----------------------

P Diddy at Club 4Sixty6 in New Jersey

P Diddy at Club 4Sixty6 in New Jersey

This morning on Rollin' with Nick Cannon, the crew had the pleasure of talking with New York's very own renaissance man, Diddy. The musician, producer, actor, designer, and restaurateur (Did I miss anything?) called in to talk to Nick and Nikki about his show at Hammerstein Ballroom, after parties, and even Jersey Shore! Your boy Diddy has a big show tonight at Hammerstein Ballroom with the rest of Diddy Dirty Money, and we can forget our very own DJ Toro will be their to get the party started. Diddy loves "Coming Home" to the place he was born and bred, New York City. But before Diddy gets the party pumpin' at Hammerstein, he will take a trip down the street to Madison Square Garden. Diddy told Nick he will be there to turn out the lights for his home town team, the New York Knicks. The girls of Diddy Dirty Money, Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper, will be there to perform the National Anthem and hopefully bring some positive energy to the Knicks, who lost two very close games in Boston to start the series. When the show ends, the party won't stop. Diddy plans to have an after party for his fans from 10pm-2am at Club 4 Sixty 6 in West Orange, New Jersey. The action won't stop there for Diddy, he plans on having a private after party of his own back in New York City. When you're a million dollar mogul like Diddy, you not only work hard, you party hard. Diddy must have wanted to have the after party for his fans in New Jersey because of his love for Jersey Shore. Nikki and Diddy bonded over their shared appreciation for the hit reality show, and Diddy revealed his favorite cast members are Pauly D and Snooki. You think there's a chance we could see Diddy fist pumping at D'Jais this summer? Nick knows Diddy runs New York, so he thinks Diddy should just make it official and run for mayor. Nick thinks Diddy will have the answer to lower gas prices in New York City... just put a bit of that $475 million he has into it! Nikki thinks Diddy should take it one step further... run for President! Donald Trump wouldn't have a chance with Sean Combs on the ballot! Read more: Rollin' with Diddy-Dirty Money's Sean Combs http://923now.radio.com/2011/04/22/rollin-with-sean-combs/#ixzz1KMoNBAn3 Sean John Combs (born November 4, 1969[1]), also known by his stage name Diddy or P. Diddy, is an American rapper, singer, record producer, actor and men's fashion designer. He has won three Grammy Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards, and his clothing line earned a Council of Fashion Designers of America award. Combs was born in Harlem and grew up in Mount Vernon, New York. He dropped out of Howard University to become a top executive at Uptown Records and founded Bad Boy Records in 1993. He was originally known as Puff Daddy and then as P. Diddy (Puff and Puffy being often used as a nickname, but never as recording names). In August 2005, he changed his stage name to simply "Diddy", but continues to use the name P. Diddy in the UK as the result of a lawsuit. His business interests under the umbrella of Bad Boy Entertainment Worldwide include Bad Boy Records; the clothing lines Sean John & Sean by Sean Combs; a movie production company; and two restaurants. He has taken the roles of recording executive, performer, producer of MTV's Making the Band, writer, arranger, clothing designer, and Broadway actor. In 2011 Forbes estimated his net worth at $475 million, making him the richest figure in hip hop.
