Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a fine example of a charming rural French village with a special character of its own. Definitely worth visiting, the village is located about 12 miles or 20 kilometers south of Avignon in the heart of Provence. Subscribe now: http://bit.ly/2pmdyeu http://tourvideos.com/ It’s a good destination any time, but extra special on a Wednesday morning with the outdoor food and flea market going strong, as we’ll show you coming up soon in the program. Provence in the south of France is famous for its outdoor markets and you'll find the market at Saint-Rémy is one of the best. But just simply walking the pedestrian lanes of this small town any day of the week is probably the most interesting thing you could do here and we are going to show you all the places to see. The village center is small enough that you can just walk any place you like, it doesn't take long, and you won't get lost, but this map route gives you some idea of a sequence of lanes you can easily walk through the little town. That would only take you about one hour altogether to cover the entire village, but of course you’ll want to linger, do some shopping, take some pictures and look around.

PRETTY THINGS: LIZ GOLDWYN Book Number: 71912 Product format: HARDBACK Be prepared to be titillated by this tantalising book, written by a connoisseur of burlesque who - in the interests of research - was willing to wear the costumes and learn the art. The author admits to being spellbound by second-hand garments, which seemed to her to reveal clues to the original wearer's personality. Looking at pictures of original burlesque queens, she found that they possessed class, skill and attitude. They were performers and artists who radiated self-confident sex appeal and appeared to be in complete control. As she spent 10 years researching, and collecting costumes from 1900 to 1960, she formed close relationships with the last generation of burlesque queens. Perceiving them as artists, and their costumes as examples of great craftsmanship, she found a big gap between them and the topless dancers currently appearing at strip clubs. This scintillating volume showcases the glory years of these women who were artists, so that their role in entertainment history can at last be 'legitimised'. In order to do this, the book also provides a fascinating history of earlier burlesque queens from La Belle Époque, between 1871 and 1914 and known as 'the age of women', giving details of their costumes and stage props, such as the corset made entirely of diamonds crafted for Emilienne d'Alençon and allegedly given to her by her lover Leopold II of Belgium! An eyebrow-raising, revealing glimpse of an all-but-forgotten art and its accoutrements. 285 pages 23.5cm x 28.5cm with burlesque family tree, archive photos in b/w, fashion drawings, and more modern photos in colour.
