They are not meant to be worn constantly. You should ALWAYS check with an optician before purchasing lenses just to make sure they're ok. If you have a history of eye problems, if your eyes are different shapes, of if the lenses just don't feel right DO NOT USE THEM. Always keep your tools clean. I always wash the tweezers after using them and make sure that the lens cases are super clean. I learned at lot of new tips and tricks for this video from Earaness, check him out his makeup is awesome!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ2m8Bi3LVE&feature=related I've said this in the video but I just want to say it again, ALWAYS check with an optician before doing anything with your eyes. -------------------------------------------------------------- Where else to find me: Website/Blog: http://www.klairedelys.com Twitter: http://twitter.com/KlairedeLys Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Klaire-de-Lys/128984429746?ref=ts My second Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/KlairedeLysdotcom Deviant Art Account: http://klairedelys.deviantart.com/ Google+ : https://plus.google.com/u/0/stream?tab=G#109311808933297815502/posts Tumblr: http://klairedelys.tumblr.com/ -------------------------------------------------------------- What I used: -Contact lenses (single colour grey): http://www.funkylenses.co.uk/patterns.html -Lens Tweezers can be found on e-Bay :) -(And for those of you asking the earrings here is the seller I bought them from): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Earrings-Large-Brass-Key-STEAMPUNK-/130568795393?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_CostumeJewellery_CA&hash=item1e6681b501 Just as a precaution I'm going to paste the FAQ's from the contact lens company I buy my lenses from: Soak your Funky Eyes in solution for at least 2 hours before wearing them. You really want to take that 3 p.m. nap, but you don't feel like taking out your contacts. After all, what's the worst that could happen? We spoke to an eye surgeon to find out. ------------------------------------------------------ Science Insider tells you all you need to know about science: space, medicine, biotech, physiology, and more. Subscribe to our channel and visit us at: http://www.businessinsider.com/science Science Insider on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BusinessInsiderScience/ Science Insider on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/science_insider/ Business Insider on Twitter: https://twitter.com/businessinsider Tech Insider on Twitter: https://twitter.com/techinsider ------------------------------------------------------ Following is a transcript of the video: Irina Belinsky: Some contact lens brands say that it's okay to sleep in them, but as a general rule, it's really not. Contact lenses are safe, but they're safe if you take care of them appropriately, and part of good contact lens hygiene is not sleeping in your contact lenses. Think of the contact lens as foreign material in your eye. It's sort of like a sponge, and to be comfortable, the contact lens needs to be moist, so, it absorbs moisture from your eye, and it can also trap bacteria, and so, it's very important to take your contact lenses out to clean them periodically. Leaving them in when you sleep can cause an eye infection that can sometimes be really, really bad. A lot of the infections can be mild and go away with antibiotic eye drops, but some infections can be really, really severe, and even if they go away, they can cause scarring of the surface of your eye, which is the cornea, and that scar can cause sort of a permanent change in your vision. Sometimes an infection can be devastating, and it can completely cause the eye to scar to the point that someone might need a corneal transplant or lose vision completely. Really serious blinding kind of infections related to contact lens wear are rare, fortunately. If they were common, then nobody would ever wear contact lenses. So, they are exceedingly rare, and they usually have to do with really, really bad contact lens hygiene. So, good contact lens hygiene has to do with a few things. One, knowing if your contact lens needs to be changed every month or every two weeks and trying to stick to that, even if you have to put a little reminder in your calendar. The more common thing that we see is just contact lens overwear. The cornea gets devoid of oxygen. So, a contact lens does start to break down over time so it doesn't have a smooth surface. It's gonna form micro-breakdown kind of edges, and the contact lens will also dry out. I mean, your eye just doesn't have enough moisture to keep a contact lens in there forever. If you think of the contact lens as a sponge, like the sponge in your kitchen, you have to clean it every so often, and you might even have to replace it every so often, because it just doesn't do the job right anymore. A contact lens can become kind of folded and entrapped in the eye underneath the lid, so, I have seen that where patients come in with chronic red eye, and you look around very carefully and sometimes, and this is also rare, but you can actually extract a contact lens that has probably been there for months. It can happen if you put it in wrong. It can happen if you sleep in it. It can happen if you don't take it out, or if you forget to take it out. Take your contact lenses out. Don't leave them in. Take them out every day.
WARNING: Not all Halloween contacts/color contacts are FDA approved and safe for your eyes (Vision loss etc) so be super careful when using them. Also, Sclera Lenses are only safe to wear in eyes for few hours cause of the thickness and not being as breathable(My eyes feel quite dry today even though I only had it on for 30 mins). I purchased from this place because they seem to have made contacts for celebs and movies before. Oh, and they also contacted me this morning saying they accidentally put the numbers in and charged me so I guess it was a mistake. I can't believe I paid $550 for a pair of contact and successfully put them on too. I think a lot of you guys thought this was a clickbait but no these are real contacts. I was so tempted to buy them when I came across a korean youtuber who reviewed them. It was so hard to find but thanks to some of my helpful viewers one listed below Thanks Wink818 for helping to find them : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCozz5jVK9VloAMtQLIMoZJA Pure.D Channel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28Ho21m5Eeo What do you think of these contacts?? Finally, a video dedicated to my contacts and the way I care for them. I meant for this to be informative to those who are new to contacts and would like to know how to care for them as well as those who want to know what lenses I wear. Also, thank you all for being patient with me because ya girl finally finished her finals and I am now able to finally put out more videos! -I want to note that I do LOVE my natural eye color, however, clear contacts aren't easily accessible and I love experimenting with different looks. Therefore I find colored contacts to be a win-win. EDIT: please see an optometrist for further information, I can only provide insight on my personal experience. I know there will be people who think their eyes are perfect, however, that's what I thought too, but now I'm informed that I have slight astigmatism. Please be informed by professionals if you have questions about fitting and what contacts will be best for you. If you plan on wearing colored lens, you will need to schedule an appointment for your optometrist so they can properly fit you and prescribe you to them. A: You can carry around a travel size of the rub/no rub solution, take out the contact from the eye and re moisturize them. Or you can buy eye drops specifically for contact lenses. Q: Is it okay to sleep in them? A: From personal experience, when I sleep with lenses in my eyes, my eyes become extra dry and irritated. I just recommend taking them out at the end of the day and if you're lazy, keep a spare lens case and solution by your bed so you don't have to walk all the way to the bathroom to do so. Q: Do you put on contacts before or after makeup? A: I always put my contacts in before because I can't see without them. Don't worry if makeup gets in your eye because you can always use eye drops or solution to clear the residue out. However, some people who purchase non prescription lenses prefer to apply the lenses afterward. Q: How long can contacts last throughout the day before feeling uncomfortable? A: Honestly, it depends on your own body. Some have drier eyes than others. I've gone through days where I wore my contacts for 16 hours and they didn't feel dry. But if you're concerned about the comfortability then I would limit the use to about 8-10 hours. Q: How often should I put my contacts in solution? A: AFTER YOU WEAR THEM/THE END OF THE DAY!
