Our tour starts in the capital, Bogotá, before heading southward across the Andes as far as Popayàn. We then head back north to the coastline of the Caribbean Sea. Our journey takes us through some fabulous landscapes while stopping off to discover cities such as Cali, Medellin and Cartagena. Not forgetting the rural regions and encounters with Amerindians, plus some prestigious archaeological sites like the Ciudad Perdida (lost city). Our journey is by road, not by plane despite the long distances involved. This way we get a closer look at the daily life of local inhabitants and take in the wide variety of natural landscapes. Colombia is a vast country sandwiched between South and Central America. Notorious for its social and economic problems (poverty, drug-trafficking and armed militia forces), Colombia is actually a little-known country in that the majority of received images more often than not filter through news media reporting. What do we know about the country aside form the themes that make headline news in newspapers? Colombia happens to be a very rich country in terms of both landscapes and culture.
I meet some people from Colombia and Mexico and hit the town on a friday in medellin colombia. the night starts in carrera 70 but ends up in the ever popular el poblado area of medellin colombia. there is always life in el poblado, but on the weekends, the nightlife is next level. OneFootball Free Download: http://bit.do/FOOTBALLSPOTLIGHT_5 By FOOTBALL SPOTLIGHT Colombia vs Brazil 1-1 Highlights & Goals WC Qualifier, 05 September 2017. 1-0 Willian 1-1 Falcao COLOMBIA 1 BRAZIL 1: FALCAO CHECKS SELECAO STREAK WITH VITAL EQUALISER Willian gave Brazil the lead in spectacular fashion in Barranquilla but in-form Radamel Falcao grabbed a 1-1 draw for Colombia. Radamel Falcao denied Brazil a 10th consecutive World Cup qualifying win and grabbed a vital 1-1 draw for Colombia in their own quest to reach Russia 2018. Brazil's place in the finals is secure as group winners after dominating the notoriously unforgiving CONMEBOL section under the guidance of head coach Tite, and they looked set to continue their march when Willian magnificently opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time. Colombia went into the game at the head of devilishly congested chasing pack and seasoned striker Falcao brought his prolific Monaco form to a raucous Estadio Metropolitano in Barranquilla. Jose Pekerman's men now have 26 points, only three more than Argentina in fifth, but Chile's defeat in Bolivia guarantees they will enter next month's concluding qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru in one of the four automatic qualification places. Falcao has seven goals in four Ligue 1 games so far this season and the second-half header by Colombia's all-time record goalscorer was excellently dispatched. Another man tussling for top honours in France this year, Neymar, was unable to similarly get on the scoresheet despite an inventive, all-action showing.
It is not often that you get to meet a man who has personally taken more than 250 lives and was involved in the torture and murder of thousands more. It is even rarer to see such a man in broad daylight, in a city centre enjoying public adulation. John Jairo Velásquez Vásquez, a.k.a. Popeye, is a local celebrity in Medellin, Colombia. In the 80s, the city was home to Pablo Escobar’s infamous, and extremely powerful, drug cartel. Popeye was the kingpin’s ‘hitman’. The Medellin Cartel, which operated from the mid-1970s to early 1990s, reached its peak under Pablo Escobar when it became even more powerful than Colombia’s Government. It made tens of billions of dollars trafficking cocaine and committed tens of thousands of murders, many through terrorist attacks in Colombia. Pablo Escobar was named the richest and most powerful drug lord in the world. Throughout his criminal career and on Escobar’s orders, Popeye kidnapped, tortured, killed and maimed. He planted bombs and terrorised thousands, from law enforcement officials to criminal competitors. Many innocent civilians became victims of the drug war as ‘collateral damage’. There are still people suffering long term consequences after the atrocities he and his accomplices committed; some were disabled, others bereaved. Popeye, however, is unrepentant, adamant that he has paid his debt to society. After spending 23 years behind bars, he is now a free man. His criminal expertise lands him roles in popular television shows and films. Some, who were not personally affected by his crimes, treat him as a film star, others see him very differently.
