We're hopefully just a couple months away from being able to cut the timbers for our house. We have a logger on the lookout for trees for us and hopefully they'll be delivered within a month or so, so once we have our plans finalized, it's go time to see what we can possibly achieve before winter! It's our greatest hope that this sawmill doesn't just build one home, but goes on to build many, many homes, giving the option of being debt-free to others as well. Stay tuned as we prepare for the big milling and start of our timber frame home build! ENJOY THIS VIDEO? SUPPORT US WITHOUT PAYING A DIME! Cutting my own boards using a Mini chainsaw mill. I was surprised at how well it worked.
This video shows how I made a DIY chainsaw sawmill. It is not for cutting large amounts of lumber. I just wanted to get a few planks to turn into stock every once in a while. For entertainment only. I got the idea from Travis on Your Home Workshop channel. I just modified it a bit.
I decided to upgrade my Timberjig Chainsaw Mill to the Big Mill Basic Chainsaw Mill. The Big Mill Basic Chainsaw Sawmill uses the basic timberjig kit plus a guide rail and guide rail supports. the chainsaw mill is very easy to use and takes a lot of the guesswork out of knowing where to cut. I found setup much faster than using a board with the timberjig. I used a Stihl 036 chainsaw. The 036 is lightweight with plenty of power but not enough power to mill lumber as quick as I'd like. A Stihl 066 or Husqvarna 395 are the ideas saws for chainsaw milling in my book. Link to Chainsaw Milling Pine Video https://youtu.be/yeH6SRv-qGo
This is a video about the design and use of a chainsaw lumber mill. I designed and made this mill myself in my garage using 3/4" square hollow tube. Thanks for watching
