Got it around October 2004. It was one of the beginner bass packs that came with an amp/tuner/picks/vhs tape. The strings on it are from around 2007. I soaked them in some denatured alcohol for about 24 hours and they sounded brand new. I've tried many methods of cleaning bass strings (wd-40, boiling, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, smacking on the fretboard), but this by far was the best. The other methods of cleaning worked only for 60-90 minutes, then it was back to sounding dead. Played around for a total of around 4 hours and they stiff have that new zing. So sick. The denatured alcohol was $6.50 USD at Walmart in the paint isle near the paint thinner. Hope my face didn't scare ya! ;) I heard the song this morning, and I remembered why it was so badass, so I decided to do a bass cover for it. It only took me less than 30 minutes to learn the bass lines. Yes, I faltered at the beginning of the guitar solo and the outro. :( Feedback on my bass cover, plz! \m/ -Manny
