10 Mysterious Creatures Spotted In The Amazon! Subscribe to TheHub http://goo.gl/87YJzG The Amazon is like a lost world all on its own, with ancient creatures, poisonous beasts and ravaging predators roaming through the thick jungle. Many of these organisms were able to evolve relatively unobstructed for thousands of years while the underbrush around them grew more and more unwieldy. Hanging around the South American equator, these animals thrived in the hot, wet and humid greenery and swam in protected schools through the flowing Amazon River. Unfortunately, many of these beautiful and deadly creatures are threatened by deforestation, human development and climate change. With warming waters, unpredictable storms, and changing weather patterns, a ticking clock has seemingly been placed over their livelihood as their habitats are forever changed by the influence of man. But in spite of these uncertain times, the Amazon Rain Forest is still an incredible sight to behold. Join TheHub as we cut a new path through this dense ecosystem and observe the wild animals that have called this natural wonder “home” for millions of years. In the warm and rich environment, many organisms have been allowed to grow into immense sizes and exotic shapes. Look on in amazement at the record-breaking specimens of the arapaima, the green anaconda, the peanut head bug, the bullet ant, the black caiman, the greater bulldog bat, the Amazonian giant centipede, the Brazilian wandering spider, the giant catfish and the spectacled bear. Let’s observe these mighty beasts as they reign in the top spots of their respective food chains. For copyright matters please contact us at: email@example.com

The most comforting thing about all of these gentle giants is that for the most part, they’re pretty gentle. Many are herbivores and completely harmless unless provoked. From land to the deep sea, here are some of the world’s most massive animals. If you’ve ever seen the franchise “Anaconda” films, these real life facts might not seem too impressive to you. The Green Anaconda can grow as long as twenty five feet and weigh up to five hundred pounds. There is a longer species of snake, the Reticulated Python, but they are not as bulky and heavy as the Green Anacondas. The Green Anaconda is native to South American swamps and marshes, and preys on fish, birds, wild pigs, and capybaras. Allegedly, an anaconda can go weeks without eating, sustaining itself off a large unlucky catch The largest snake ever recorded, Titanoboa, lived in Colombia eighty five million years ago. He was forty feet long, and weighed over a ton. Scientists discovered the snake when conducting fossil research in the Cerrejon region. And of course, it was just as scary as you’d imagine it to be. According To National Geographic, it acted more like today’s water anaconda, and would eat “any animal that caught its eye”. 5.Ocean Sunfish The Ocean Sunfish may be an unexpected surprise to this list, but it is the largest species of BONY fish. They are members of the Osteichthyes group- an extremely vast collection of fish that contains over twenty ninety thousand variations of species. It’s length is only about six foot long, but what it lacks in length it makes up for in weight. Ocean sunfish can weigh over two thousand pounds. The name sunfish comes from the fact that they love to sunbathe, often swimming near the surface of the water. The sun helps them to warm up after they’ve incurred the chilly waters of the deep ocean in order to find food. And they dive down pretty low- as low as two thousand six hundred feet! Their nickname, Mola Mola comes from the fact that they look like millstones due to their rounded gray bodies. 4.The Capybara Imagine seeing a rodent walking towards you that looks like the size of a large dog. You may recall the capybara as one of the the animals that the Green Anaconda preys on. It’s the largest species of rodent in the world, but is still impressive nonetheless. Some people find rodents to be disgusting, but these guys are sort of charming. Much like many other rodents, the capybaras prefer to live in large groups of ten to twenty individuals. The capybara can weigh up to two hundred and thirty pounds! That’s way larger than most humans and can be likened to about twenty full, gallon sized paint cans. They live near freshwater sources like marshes and river banks in Central and South America. Luckily, these guys aren’t man eating rodents. They are herbivores and and known to eat “mostly water plants, grain melons and squash. 3.The Flemish Giant It’s hard to decide whether or not the Giant Flemish Rabbit is terrifying or the most cuddly creature of all time. Let’s take a look at the facts to decide. The largest species of rabbit, they can weigh up to twenty two pounds with a length of over two feet. The rabbits are so large because they were originally bred for their fur and meat in the 16th century. 2.Big Turtle Unfortunately, we don’t live in Jurassic Park and this giant and vicious turtle is not real, but a prop used in for Japanese amusement park. In real life, turtles and tortoises can grow pretty large. Most specifically, the Galapagos Tortoises are the longest living remaining vertebrates on the planet. According to National Geographic, the oldest Galapagos Tortoise that ever lived went on to live 152 years. Some grow to be GIANTS of the Galapagos Islands; the largest ever recorded were 5 feet long and five hundred and fifty pounds heavy. No wonder they move so slowly. They nap about sixteen hours a day, but with a weight so heavy and a habitat of a sandy beach, can you blame them? They’ve got to be exhausted. We hope you’ve learned a LARGE amount of fun factoids to tell your friends about now. But first, we want to thank you for all the comments. Here are just a few from today. Leave an amount of love as big as these animals before we get to number one. 1.Kodiak Bear The Kodiak Bear, or the Alaska Brown Bear, isn’t the largest animal on this list, but perhaps the furriest. It shares a spot with the polar bear as the largest species of bear in the world. It is very similar to the grizzly bear, but way larger. Even though the females are about thirty per cent smaller than the males, they both would be pretty terrifying to approach in the woods somewhere. The male can be over ten feet tall when standing on it’s hind legs, and 1500 pounds.
Ellen showed some hilarious scare videos from the world wide web, and a few she made herself with this very scary new friend.

When a mother elephant decides to take a drink from a river, she is unaware that there is danger lurking right below the surface. A huge 10 ft crocodile decides to latch its jaws onto the unsuspecting elephant's trunk. The young elephants watch helplessly as the crocodile attacks and the mother fights back. This event calls to mind a short story by the author of "The Junglebook" Rudyard Kipling titled "The Elephant's Child: How the Elephant Got His Trunk". In this story, a young elephant gets tricked by a crocodile into going too close to the water. The crocodile bites the elephant's trunk and what was once a small trunk gets stretched to its modern day length. Read Kipling's story here: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/2781/2781-h/2781-h.htm#link2H_4_0005 Is this really how the elephant got its long trunk? Next time you go out for a drink, check for crocodiles first!
