She knew her new appliance will be restrictive but not like that! Her new brace is a Lyon-Milwaukee hybrid type brace with a Neck Ring attachment, which completely immobilize her spine. She is instructed by nurse on how to put on her brace and on schedule of wearing it, starting for 6 hours for first 3 days, 12 hours for another 3 days and full time wear afterwards with only being able to take it off for a morning hours bath! After her brace fitting is complete, she goes home and finds that all the usual chores she does are not so easy anymore! (Disclaimer: Any injuries in videos are not real. She gets fitted with her new appliance at the clinic and instructed by the nurse on how to wear it. On her way home, she visits local market to buy some fruits and this is the place when she notice how much of attention and stares her new brace gets her from passersby! This doesn't botter het that much, as she is already acustomed to stares from time of wearing her Risser's Plaster Body Cast. She finally gets home and takes a little nap in her brace. After she wakes up, she change her clothes, to which she needs to remove her Milwaukee Brace and then put it back on, which is not that easy with all those straps! She then prepares herself a drink and goes to watch some tv, to which finding a good position on the sofa with immobilised spine is also not that easy now! Outtakes taken from: https://youtu.be/fT6cJVu7PK4 and https://youtu.be/mAvj1AUsLGE The Milwaukee brace, also known as a cervico-thoraco-lumbo-sacral orthosis or CTLSO, is a back brace used in the treatment of spinal curvatures (such as scoliosis or kyphosis) in children. It is a full-torso brace that extends from the pelvis to the base of the skull. It was originally designed by Blount and Schmidt in 1946 for postoperative care when surgery required long periods of immobilization. Milwaukee braces are often custom-made over a mold of the patient's torso, but in some cases, it can be made from prefabricated parts. Three bars—two posterior and one anterior—are attached to a pelvic girdle made of leather or plastic, as well as a neck ring. The ring has an anterior throat mold and two posterior occipital pads, which fit behind the patient's head. Lateral pads are strapped to the bars; adjustment of these straps holds the spine in alignment. This brace is normally used with growing adolescents to hold a 25° to 40° advancing curve. The brace is intended to minimize the progression to an acceptable level, not to correct the curvature. If, despite the brace, curve progression beyond 40-50 degrees is evident, surgery may be required. The Milwaukee brace is often prescribed to be worn 23 hours a day until the patient reaches skeletal maturity and growth ceases. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee_brace

This kinda covers the deterioration of my incomplete spinal injury. After a couple drinks and a stupid fall in my heels down a very short flight of stairs changed my life forever. What seemed temporary eventually got worse over time. Although feeling and motor function comes and goes, I don't know when it will happen and now it's mostly gone over the day. That unreliability causes the need for my brace. I've lost all control of my bladder so I have to use a catheter now. I have internal muscle stimulators in my pelvis that continually "exercise" my muscles. Balance is a HUGE issue for me which requires a stabilizing post to help keep me from falling backwards because of the fatigue from the 46 pounds of metal and orthotics devices I have to drag.
